Patrons of the Lavington Swim Centre will have to wait two more weeks for a dip — until October 3.
Albury Aquatic Management director Paul Tanner said work to prepare the pools had started in July.
“There’s a lot of cleaning and maintenance to get the pools ready,” he said.
“The water gets taken out and recycled.”
Now with the hard work done, Mr Tanner said the success of the season was in the lap of the gods — and the temperature.
“Everyone you ask has an opinion but we are expecting a warmer season,” he said.
“While last season wasn’t very hot at all, at the busiest parts of it we still employed more than 50 people.”
Albury Council’s leisure facilities team leader Michael Stanton said the Albury pool had averaged 150,000 patrons over the past five years with 65,000 using the Lavington pool.
The council will repair the water slide at the Albury pool after the season.
Mr Tanner said people should consider swimming lessons, sunscreen, shade and child supervision for the hot weather.
Wodonga’s WAVES pool opened on Monday.
