About 150 children and adults attended The Cube Wodonga courtyard and Wod-onga Library yesterday for the Pirates on the Grass event.
They took part in craft, games and book readings ahead of tomorrow’s Talk Like a Pirate Day.
Wodonga Library literacy officer Heather McNamara said the event aimed to promote reading.
“It’s part of our ongoing Story Time Anytime promotion where we promote 10 minutes of reading with children each day,” she said.
“It’s absolutely imperative we get our kids involved with books from the day they’re born.
“The best way to get them involved is to have books in the house.”
