Moon combined with fellow Wodonga A1 pennant bowlers Bob Harbridge and Josh Rudd to win the Wayne Wilksch memorial triples tournament at Walla last Thursday and then joined two other Wodonga players, Peter McLarty and skip Ashley Bates, to win the annual invitation triples at Culcairn.
The Wilksch triples attracted a full field of 24 teams from as far afield at Finley and Wagga.
After three games just five teams were unbeaten.
North Albury’s Peter Fitzgerald, Eddie Simmons and skip Alan “Salty” Ross led with a significant shots advantage, but lost the last game to an Oaklands team.
Wodonga’s Mick O’Brien, Tony Smedley and Paul Carey were also in contention, but had a draw.
Moon’s team remained unbeaten to win by shots up from Lavington’s Rob Hutchins, Max Findley and skip Slawko Kitt.
The biggest winning margin in the last game went to Les Burns (Walla), Wayne “Tiger” Price and Terry Towers (North Albury), who won 24-2.
No team won seven games at Culcairn, with the top three teams being divided by shots up.
Barry Flett (Kangaroo Flat), Greg McHugh and Brian Harrop (Dunnolly) leding into the final game but lost to a home team skipped by Jim Lee and dropped to third.
Moon, McLarty and Bates claimed the $1500 first prize from Weston Creek’s David Maloney, George Bains and former ACT skip Terry McInnes.
Harbidge’s Wodonga team won Saturday, while Tom Todd’s Deniliquin team topped Sunday’s list.
