The NSW government took a step in the right direction when it allocated $17 million to help newly released prisoners find a job and stay drug and alcohol free.
It will also assist by giving them drug and alcohol counselling and by helping them find a job and link to mental health assistance and accommodation services.
Attorney-General Brad Hazzard said the first three months were crucial to stop them returning to prison.
