Barber at Albury’s Dude Hut Reagan Milburn has been in the industry about 20 years and says the facial hair and male grooming trend has increased massively in recent years.
“I went away from barbering for while due the lack of creativity, but I could see a change coming, that’s why I got back into it.” Milburn said.
“Guys are taking pride in themselves again.
“I have a concreter that comes in fortnightly," he laughs, "Ten years ago you would be flat out getting a concreter to shower; now he’s rocking the beard and fade and he looks sharp.”
Albury’s Marty Clarke is now sporting short sides and a slicked back top; a beard grower of five months, he has always has some form of facial hair.
“I grew it out because I like the rough look, but I think there’s a touch of class to it now.”
Marty is a regular customer of Reagan’s and enjoys not only getting a trim up, but the overall experience of the barber.
“I reckon it’s a great culture.” says Reagan.
“Getting shaves and fades, guys are looking sharp again. It’s that whole pride in your image they used to have in the 1950s.”
