The 13-year-old is utilising his school holidays to plan a day aimed at raising money for breast cancer research.
Next month’s event at The Cube courtyard in Hovell Street will bring together local stallholders and businesses at the Wodonga Breast Cancer Pink Market.
Young Jye will also be baking cupcakes and slices for sale at the market.
In the meantime, he is busy organising to have fund-raising tins and merchandise from the Breast Cancer Network Australia delivered in time for next month.
Jye is no stranger to the importance of raising money for cancer research; he has twice shaved his head as part of the Leukemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave.
His inspiration is his great-grandmother — who suffered both breast cancer and leukaemia — as well as the statistics that show one in nine people will develop breast cancer.
Jye says he doesn’t want to see other families go through the pain experienced by his own.
It would be great for the community to get behind Jye and ensure he gets value for his hard work over the holidays.
