Highlights came from the section 2 men and section 3 ladies with Albury and Thurgoona Silver winners by just three games in their encounters.
In the ladies, Lavington held a slender advantage with one set to play, only for Kyleen Marheine and the unbeaten Anne Semple to snatch the tie break and the premiership for Silver — 3 sets 38 games to 3 sets 35 games.
Semple had solid support from Carol Mildren and Nola Hyden while Enid Antone and Jenny Grey were good for Lavington.
The Forest Hill team of Kara Curphey, Di Wurtz, Kelly and Colleen Gallagher outclassed Thurgoona Crystals in the Section 1 decider, comprehensive 6 sets to nil winners.
In Section 2, Walla had its match against Wodonga Aces stitched up by mid afternoon, never seriously threatened in the 5-sets-to-1 win.
Toots Walkerden, Diana Wegener, Judy Hueske and Annette Schroeter combined well with Danni and Sarah Coleman claiming a set for Aces.
After honours were even early, St Patricks-Diggerville stepped up to record a straight-forward 5-sets-to-1 salute over Thurgoona Cats in Section 1 men.
Aaron Breust was in fine form from the outset with contributions from Brock Dixon and Issac Dallinger while Scott Black and David Lake claimed a doubles rubber for Cats.
After 4 sets going to tie breaks, the Section 2 men’s decider came down to the final stanza.
Albury’s Cameron Scholz and Ian Llewelyn powered their way to an 8-2 win, giving their team the premiership over the gallant Wodonga Bushrangers.
Paul Grover and Rob Cabion also contributed while Mark Neil was the stand-out for Wodonga, remaining unbeaten.
There was another close tussle was in Section 3 men with Thurgoona Bears claiming the spoils from Sacred Heart, 3 sets 43 games to 3 sets 38 games. Bears’ Noel Browne finished with a 3-set haul and received back-up from Ian Bester, Rob Saunders and Brendan Tomlinson.
Hayden McIntosh, Hayden Tankard, Graham McAuliffe and Ben Frizel all performed admirably in the narrow defeat.
In Section 4, with the match locked at 2 rubbers apiece, Albury with Charlie Byrne, Max Byrne, Rupert Freeman and Owen Sowden went into another gear, claiming the final 2 sets and the win from the competitive SPD Gold outfit.
Zain Alderich, Ethan Wenzke, Ryan Graham and Angus Barlow acquitted themselves well in the hard fought loss.
