IN relation to the release of a “big balloon”, as stated by Mrs Chris Sobey in The Border Mail of September 25, I wish to inform her of the NSW law where it states:

“Any released balloons, at best, become litter. They may also end up in the ocean where they are ingested by marine animals. The balloons, along with any ribbons or plastic attached, can harm the animals by blocking their airways or becoming lodged in their intestines.”
Mrs Sobey, a Greens member, should know, and especially have consideration for the fact that by releasing balloons she would be endangering the environment and wildlife.
