Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a woman’s body in Benalla earlier this morning.

The body was discovered on Gray Street by a local couple walking home around 1.15am.
A bicycle, believed to have been ridden by the woman, was located at the scene.
Investigators are trying to determine if the woman is a victim of a hit run collision or may have simply fallen from her bike.
The woman is aged in her late 40s and is yet to be formally identified.
Investigators from the Major Collision Investigation Unit have been notified of the incident and are expected to attend later in the morning.
