THE Victorian Electoral Commission is confident its own roll is correct, as it starts its push to encourage voters to enrol for next month’s Victorian election.
A commission spokeswoman yesterday said that, following the 2010 state election, both the commission and the Australian Electoral Commission had expanded their direct enrolment programs.
This means that when a person updates their address through such government agencies as VicRoads, their electoral details are updated.
“As a result, the commission is confident its roll integrity for the 2014 state election is of a high order,” she said.
“This, combined with enrolment scrutiny processes, will highlight any irregularities, which will be investigated.”
Those not on the roll have until Tuesday, November 11 to register for the November 29 poll.
