We purchased our small piece of paradise about three years ago, one of the many blocks available for sale zoned for rural living on Hardys Road.
Our vision for our grandchildren and future retirement is here in our home on Hardys Road.
Our home is situated in a beautiful valley with extraordinary views of the surrounding farms and even Lake Hume can be seen from our back veranda.
The hills provide a spectacular backdrop to our much-loved home.
We bought on Hardys Road for the tranquillity and peaceful lifestyle.
Now the proposal of Hurst’s quarry threatens not only our way of life but also our health and safety.
We bought here in good faith as these blocks were advertised as lifestyle blocks with not a sniff of a quarry in the wind.
Towong Shire uses the word “pure” in its marketing and tourism strategies, so surely approving this quarry would contradict the “pure” vision they have for the Towong Shire’s future.
Quote from the current mission statement 2008-17:
Our vision — “by 2010 we will be a world class small council and Towong Shire will be the ideal place to live”.
Our mission — “to provide leadership and service to the Towong Shire community that adds value and enhances social, economic and environmental wellbeing now and in the future”.
Our values — “respect, integrity, pride, teamwork”.
I hope the Tallangatta community understands how much our family appreciates and respects this awesome place we live in.
