After 18 months of planning and bureaucratic hurdles, Michelle Hudson and Jen Hayes revealed the fund-raiser yesterday.
Thousands of participants will run or walk from Albury’s city centre to Wodonga’s city centre on February 22.
High Street, Lincoln Causeway and Dean Street will close on the day.
Profits will go to Albury Wodonga Health to use for cardiac services.
“It’s a significant milestone for us to know this dream has come true, and people have believed in us to get to where we are today,” Ms Hayes said.
“We were so lucky we had some good sponsors and support through that journey as well as some people with some great vision who came along with us and said they could see it working.”
Organisers aim to make it an “iconic flagship community event” and hope for 2000 participants in the first year.
There will be 7.5-kilometre and 10-kilometre courses, with registrations at city2cityawh.org.au.
