Woods led the Australian's go forward with a strong opening 20 minute stint. He and fullback Matt Moylan were the standouts for the Australian's while young outside backs Josh Mansour and Sione Mata'utia also put their hands up for Test selection.

Veteran back-rower Ryan Hoffman, Beau Scott and Greg Bird also reinforced their representative credentials in front of about 7000 people at Kalabond Stadium. However, it is Mata'utia, who after just seven top grade games, has emerged as a shock selection and Australia's youngest ever Kangaroo. But after impressing coach Sheens – switching between centre and wing – he could emerge as a Test bolter when the squad is announced on Tuesday.

"Conditions were tough," Sheens said. "I am happy with a number of the senior efforts. I got something out of it. I thought young Moylan had a really good game at the back.

"Sione played well of the younger blokes. He showed some strength early.

"He is still raw, whether we can pick him because of defence, he is still a bit raw in that area of his game but everything else is good.

"Mansour was really strong on the wing as well. Ben Hunt had an eighty minute effort.

"Some of the senior guys went really also. It's still early and I will have assess it. We will have to make some decision on Monday."

The Prime Ministers XIII rushed to a 16-0 half-time lead against a willing PNG side who exposed Australia's middle in the opening exchanges. Having spent three weeks in camp to prepare for the game, the Kumuls were a far more disciplined side and structured side than in recent years.

For Australia, halfback Hunt laid on three of his team's six tries including a 40 metre second half line break.

Robbie Farah also split the Kumuls wide open as they began to tire. A poor end and ill-disciplined end by the Australian side cost them in the second half as the Kumuls raced in 16 unanswered points to finish the game, including two tries on a make-shift Australian left defensive edge.

After a strong Origin series, Woods is likely to earn a call up in Australia's 24-man Four-Nations squad.

"It was a tough game," Woods said. "We started off strong and held the ball. Five errors and back to back tries in the second half we got a bit complacent after getting a good lead.

"They were a physical side. You feel everyone run especially grounds that hard. It was a good run and good to blow out the cobwebs.

"I was 10 metres out and only backed up support. It wasn't too hard to get over the line. I'll take any try I get.

"When I scored I got to throw the ball to the crowd and they just went nuts. Every time we went back for a kick off they were going nuts. It was a really good experience.

"I would love to get another a Test spot."

Anthony Milford (ankle) left the field midway through the second half after breaking the line while Brenton Lawrence (knee) hurt himself in the dying stages of the match.
