The town’s primary school is holding its first “Hard Yacka” fun run and bike ride to raise cash on several cross-country running and mountain bike riding courses.
Parent Suzanne McIntosh said the event’s “Hard Yacka” tag was apt.
“It’s a good spin on the name because it’s certainly not going to be easy,” she said.
Mrs McIntosh will tackle the 40-kilometre bike ride. Her sons, Connor and Liam Wall, will take on a 2.5-kilometre course.
Event committee member Mick Enright said courses that catered for everyone were designed to promote involvement, fun and fitness.
Riders can climb one peak or two — Mount Stanley in the 40-kilometre ride or Mount Big Ben in the 80-kilometre event.
There are shorter 2.5 to 10-kilometre riding and cross country running courses.
Money raised will go towards the school.
