Led by brother and sister Josh and Kaitlin Staines, Wagga will bring a powerful 16-member team to contest the junior singles and doubles tournament.
Corey Toole, Jaslyn Stilbeck, Matt Hort and Trey Murphy are also expected to be prominent.
Wagga coach Karen Staines expected strong opposition from Albury, Wodonga and Griffith.
“Last year was the first time in 12 or 13 years that we have won the shield,” she said.
“It’s been a great competition and I think the kids really enjoy playing as a team.”
The shield started in 1989 with Albury boasting 14 wins and Wagga with seven.
Albury president Ken Wurtz expected the under-17, 15, 13 and 11s to be hotly contested.
“It’s always a strong competition and gives the young players the opportunity to play against different opposition,” he said.
Albury last won in 2011 and will look for big efforts from Brock Dixon, Isaac Dallinger, Ashley Wurtz and Maddy Wighton.
Matches start at 9am.
