In the draft draw being considered by the 10 clubs, Lavington is set down to play Wodonga Raiders at Lavington Oval, with Wangaratta to meet North Albury at Norm Minns Oval.
It comes 12 months after the league scrapped the Panthers-Albury Good Friday fixture after only one season.
“We are investigating the option of Good Friday footy again,” league general manager Aaron McGlynn said yesterday.
“There is a possibility for two games to use the lighting at Lavington and Wangaratta but we’ll wait for the feedback from the clubs.
“It’s a year by year prospect where the date falls.
“Traditionally it has been hard to accommodate Good Friday footy with the other concessions we have in the draw.
“It’s just something we have tried to fit in but I stress it’s only a draft.”
The Good Friday match would be some compensation for Wangaratta, which was disappointed to be overlooked for a finals match this season after undergoing a $3 million upgrade.
In other mooted round 1 matches, Wodonga is scheduled to take on Wangaratta Rovers at John Flower Oval on Easter Saturday while Myrtleford meets Albury at McNamara Reserve and Yarrawonga plays Corowa-Rutherglen at J.C. Lowe Oval on Easter Sunday.
The fixture is likely to raise the ire of the Roos who have traditionally hosted matches over Easter to cash in on big crowds visiting the region.
