The new traffic zones will be in nine streets, with the slower speed allowing better movements of pedestrians and cyclists in the city centre.
Full details of new traffic zones are still to be revealed by Wodonga Council, which is working with VicRoads to make the changes.
But the changes are certain to alter the way in which motorists move around the city, while also creating what the council says will be a safer environment for those on foot or on bicycles.
Wodonga has undergone major changes with regards to traffic flow with the completion of major roadworks in the city centre over the past year.
Some of those changes have been welcomed by residents, others have been criticised as having bought little immediate benefit.
Those changes have seen increased traffic flow in South Street, which will require further examination to determine how vehicles can be slowed to prevent accidents and protect pedestrians.
But the important thing is residents and retailers should continue to speak up when they see a problem arise.
