He said “coal is good for humanity” (The Border Mail, October 14).
Fortunately, a growing tide of organisations realise it’s not, and they are putting their money where their mouths are.
In recent weeks, America’s biggest “oil family”, the Rockefellers, Sydney University, Australian National University, Local Government Super and the Anglican dioceses of Perth, Canberra and Goulburn have announced divestments or freezes on coal or other fossil-fuel investments.
These organisations have joined Bendigo Bank, Hume Bank and WAW Credit Union in realising that continuing on the coal conveyor is a path to self destruction.
A transition from fossil to renewables has never been so important.
