A Wodonga woman, 31 was driving south along Church Street with her boyfriend in the car just before 4pm.
After failing to give way at the South Street intersection she was hit by a four wheel drive.
“I wasn’t rushing, I didn’t realise there was a give way sign, I thought I was at the other intersection,” she said.
Beau Owen had been working down the road at the time of the crash and said the couple were trapped in the car for about five minutes.
“I heard a massive bang and looked over and the car was rolling, so I ran down,” he said.
“People were trying to get the door open and no one could get it so I ripped the door open so the lady could get out.”
Albury’s Melissa Pearson only just managed to avoid the crash and said the Toyota HiLux behind her wasn’t so lucky.
“I came off High Street onto South Street and I heard a horn toot as I approached the Church Street intersection,” she said.
“I looked to my right to see what was tooting at me and I saw a green car coming straight at me so I accelerated and got away from it.
South Street was closed until about 5pm.
Police said the crash came down to human error and a penalty notice would be issued to the female driver.
