Jones returns to the Lions after starring in Tungamah’s premiership last season and will be joined by Yarrawonga’s Luke Ednie, Corowa-Rutherglen’s Dean Druce and Dean Skinner and Mulwala’s Dylan Scott and Jye Holcomb.
Jones was best afield in Tungamah’s grand final hiding of Katamatite and will add another bow to Lions coach Nic O’Bryan’s emerging midfield.
“It’s good to get a few signatures early,” he said.
“I would say they would all be in our starting 18.
“We need to improve and this is a step in the right direction.”
O’Bryan confirmed the Lions spoke to Yarrawonga champion Craig Ednie before the Morris medallist opted for another season in the O and M.
“We thought we were a good chance with Craig but he decided to have another year at Yarra,” he said.
The Lions (8-10) finished seventh this year.
Rutherglen remains the only TDFL club yet to announce its coach after Dallas Gallagher stepped down after one season.
