It was the Beechworth Secondary students’ first outing for her home town playing in the boys under-16 competition.
It was also her first over and when six balls had been delivered the 15-year-old had 3-0 including the hat-trick.
Her father Dean said she could barely believe it.
“Maddison has played rep cricket for the North East Knights, Riverina and had played for Belvoir up until this summer,” he said.
“That was her first game for Beechworth, first over.
“Afterwards she was talking up her teammates — Oliver Biddulph ended up with 5-5 and keeper Campbell Fendyk finished with four stumpings.”
Jayden Vescio also took a hat-trick in Wangaratta District first grade for City Colts.
