There was a representative of the Dutch government to have a look at the project, but I was too embarrassed to introduce myself as an ex-Dutchman or resident of Albury.
This celebration has been months in planning so Albury Council could have sent two employees to the airport for a couple of hours to give the DC2 a hit with a pressure washer and pump up the tyres.
No! The council decided to embarrass the residents of Albury-Wodonga by displaying an aircraft covered in bird droppings, stains and flat tyres to visiting dignitaries and residents.
