The Gardening Australia host stepped into Albury Public School and was overwhelmed by the taste of pesto, fresh herbs and vegetables.
“He was so impressed he kept going back for more,” principal Carolyn Howard said.
Georgiadis visited the school as part of the Border’s Sustainability Week celebrations and Ms Howard said the green thumb was surprised by the quality of the school’s Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden as it’s located in Albury’s central business district.
Georgiadis also didn’t hesitate when given the opportunity to get his hands dirty and helped students embed native plants in the new indigenous garden.
Ms Howard said the school welcomed all advice as Albury Public was new to the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program.
“He told us about composting and we told him about how our students are being healthy and understanding the garden to plate concept,” she said.
Georgiadis will be at Hovell Tree Park tomorrow.
