There are the naysayers who have criticised shows, particularly those held in larger regional cities, as lacking value for money and the attractions sought by modern-day families.
But the Albury show committee has made a big effort this year to keep prices down while providing more free entertainment aimed at ensuring more families come through the gates.
Motorbike rides feature in the arena, with fireworks and miniature trots, while the headline event will see tent peggers from South Africa competing against an Australian side.
Committee members have also done plenty of work in the lead-up to the show to ensure the ground is looking a picture.
Certainly if you look at other forms of entertainment, the show’s $25 ticket price for families is a favourable comparison.
Those who choose to go on rides or buy showbags will pay more but that is an option for those who have a little more in their pocket to spend.
It doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty to see and do for those who don’t choose the rides and that’s reason enough for the community to get behind the show and help it to success.
