The 25th annual Wangaratta Jazz Festival kicked off last night and will continue until Monday evening with organisers expecting more than 35,000 people to attend.
The soulful sounds of jazz and blues will flow from more than 300 performers over the course of the weekend.
Wangaratta Jazz Festival artistic director Adrian Jackson said he expected the Reid Street stages to be a popular choice for festival fans.
“People won’t be able to go through the town and not stop,” he said.
He credited the event’s success to the support of the community and the variety of music each year.
“There are no two performances the same and there’s always an element of surprise for the audience,” Mr Jackson said.
“What I like is you can hear a player’s personality come through their music.”
During the weekend some of the main events will be held at the Wangaratta Performing Arts Centre, Apex Park and Pinsent Hotel.
