I would point out to Mr Schneider that a “clear” stance is yes or no, ban or allow.
A “moratorium” is not a clear stance.
What it is at best is fence-sitting and at worst reserving the right to allow this toxic practice to happen whenever they feel like it.
If it was “safe”, then these companies wouldn’t mind signing an agreement which sees them forfeit all profits if there is a breach.
That would be only fair as the communities in which they operate have to risk forfeiting their vitally essential water supplies and land.
The VFF has, quite rightly, called on all political parties to declare their policies on on-shore natural gas. Interestingly, it is only the Greens who have come forward to categorically state that they will ban this industry in Victoria.
The National Party has and continues to sell out its heartland on many issues.
It is truly amazing that The Greens’ policies are of significantly more benefit to farmers and landholders than the Liberal/National Parties policies — how times have changed.
Liberal/Nationals and Labor clearly cannot be trusted on this issue.
