At 1.30am the woman and another resident were sleeping in the lounge of the Dale Crescent home when they were woken by the blaze.
The fire started in the carport and engulfed a black Statesman parked there.
Flames then spread to the house and completely destroyed the interior.
The pair escaped uninjured and called the fire brigade and police.
The brick structure is still standing but Albury Detective Sgt Chris Wallace said it was left in an unliveable condition.
The aftermath of the disaster left the woman, who had only lived in the home for two weeks, distressed and she cried as she looked through the window at the blackened interior.
She was too distraught to speak to The Border Mail, but was crying “I have nothing left what am I going to do?”
Police had taped off the crime scene yesterday and Sgt Wallace said it was being treated as suspicious.
“We are fairly confident it was not a random attack and they were targeted,” he said.
Meanwhile, in West Albury, a white Hyundai tore through a Colorbond fence and snapped a porch post at a Southern View Drive home.
The resident was playing Mario Kart with a friend about 2am when he saw headlights coming towards the window behind the television.
He heard the crash and ran to the front door but the car had already taken off and was headed towards Howlong.
The remains of shattered headlights were strewn across the home’s front yard.
Police said they had not found the car and were still investigating the incident.
Anybody with information about either offence is urged to contact Albury police on (02) 6023 9299 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
