Broadbent, who has won eight best and fairests in a decorated career, will travel from Melbourne with good friend and fellow recruit Mitch Hough.
The 34-year-old said yesterday he was convinced the Ovens and Murray club was on the way up.
“I went and took a look around Myrtleford and met some of the people involved and I think it’s a really pro-active and professional club,” Broadbent said.
“I can’t see why we won’t have a good season next year.
“The club has had a couple of lean years but I think it’s on an upward spiral and it will be good being a part of that.”
Broadbent is the fourth signing at McNamara Reserve following the arrival of Hough, Fraser Lucas and John Simpson with the most notable losses being Hayden Murray (King Valley) and Tim Madden (Thurgoona).
Broadbent has won best and fairests at Tatura, Maribyrnong Park, Tullamarine, Keilor Park and Albion and was a part of premiership success at Tullamarine (2003), Maribyrnong Park (2009 and 2010), Tatura (2012) and Deer Park (2013).
He will give Myrtleford’s running brigade another boost with the experienced midfielder expected to spend time in the centre square alongside coach Brad Murray, Hough, Kristan Height, Mitch Dalbosco, Nathan Cossignani and Christian Burgess.
Myrtleford host reigning premier Albury in round one.
