Today and tomorrow they’ll face a test — two one-dayers, back-to-back in an Australian summer.
But Albury coach Jerim Hayes said the imports at his team have brought more with them than hand luggage and runs, changing the face of the club for the better.
“They’ve been terrific, you can’t fault the energy they’ve brought,” he said.
“That was the main thing we wanted — while a brilliant cricketer would have been nice, we wanted good blokes with good energy.
“Having come from down the bottom and maybe struggled we were looking for a buzz — and all of them have been a breath of fresh air.
“Just at training and after games they’re creating a buzz — it’s a good thing.”
The club has welcomed two players to their first grade side, and one to their second grade.
There’s no doubt that overseas players are adding a new dimension.
“They’re in there working with the juniors and I’ve learnt so much off them myself,” Hayes said.
“Ross especially has really helped with our juniors.
“We were conscious that if we got the wrong blokes it could have put us back further, but we got more than we expected and when they start making runs it will be even better.”
