Table Top Public School principal Andrew McEachern offered that view yesterday as he unveiled new art work.
Students have spent the past two terms painting a mural to revive a lifeless white wall and tiling totem poles to emphasise the school garden.
The works have been inspired by the students’ surroundings of wattles, bottlebrushes and railway tracks.
“You can’t have a school with a blank wall,” Mr McEachern said.
“Schools need to be happy places filled with colour, joy and community and that is what this is all about.”
Mr McEachern said art was vital to develop young minds.
“They are people and not just students,” he said.
The students created the masterpieces with the help of artist Sharon McEachern.
School captains Claire McCrohan, 12, and Louis Denton, 11, said they were proud of the school and their work.
“People can see that school isn’t just about maths and writing,” Louis said.
Claire agreed and said there was definitely a fun side.
Mr McEachern hopes the students will continue to take pride in their achievements.
