Henty has a record-breaking five two-day titles in a row in its sights but is eager to make amends for losing last year’s one-day title to Culcairn.
“This will be a good start to the two-day season to build up to that,” Henty captain Chris Manns said.
“Five’s never been done before and the club wants to make history, this is a good lead up.
“It’ll just be who performs on the day.”
Two years ago Henty took out both titles but Manns said Culcairn, which is unbeaten this year, was favourite to take the flag.
“Last year they flogged us,” he said.
“Adam Eady made 100 for them and we struggled to make that as a team, and this year they’ve got Steve Brand and he’s probably the best in the league at the minute.”
But Henty have plenty of batting options, with the newly arrived Tim Piltz making useful runs, alongside Matt Manns and Mark White.
“Mark always makes runs for us and he pretty much won the two-day final for us last year,” Manns said.
“If he fires again he’ll be hard to stop.”
