Evans, 20, comes to the Border club having previously played in the QBL for the Cairns Dolphins before signing as a development player with the Rangers for this year’s WNBL campaign.
A 182-centimetre small forward, Evans has appeared in two games for Dandenong so far, scoring four points in five minutes of court time in the 101-72 loss to Canberra earlier this month.
A talented junior, Evans earned selection in the Australian under-17 squad in 2010, displaying an inherited playing pedigree.
Evans’ mother Jenny Reisener is a Cairns Basketball Hall of Fame member after playing for the Australian Institute of Sport in the WNBL and 48 international games for the Australian Opals.
Lady Bandits coach Michael Brookens said he was looking forward to seeing Evans play a versatile role for the embattled Border outfit.
“Teyla is a diamond in the rough,” Brookens said. “We were very lucky to get a talented player such as Teyla to play a key part in our team.
“She can guard three positions on the court, which is a tremendous asset for us and will make her a very versatile player in the team.”
Evans, who will relocate to the Border early next year, said she was excited to be playing in the competition.
“I’m really looking forward to having a big influence in the SEABL competition,” Evans said.
“Especially playing under Michael (Brookens), I feel he will push our game to another level and lead us to a successful season.
“I’m very excited to be a part of this team, with a great bunch of girls and I look forward to an exciting season.”
The addition of Evans comes on the back of the Lady Bandits signing Australian young gun Ashton Eaton.
The team will announce its import players in the coming weeks.
