The woman and her passenger, a man aged 57, were both taken to Wangaratta Hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries but the man died from those injuries later that night.
The man and woman were both from St Kilda.
The driver of the truck was not injured.
Police are now investigating the crash.

Meanwhile, a man rescued after spending three hours trapped in his car while it lay flattened under a truck on a Melbourne freeway at Point Cook has died.
On November 13, the 54-year-old’s car had become wedged between two trucks when his car was stopped in a line of traffic at a Princes Freeway off-ramp during morning peak hour when it was rear-ended, setting off a five-vehicle collision.
The Footscray man died in hospital on Sunday night.
Police said they were yet to formally interview the truck driver.
