Sweet As Bro was an impressive winner of the listed $263,000 Kilmore Cup in February.
The son of High Chaparral is one of two entries for the Wodonga feature from the father and son training partnership of Leon and Troy Corstens.
The pair have also nominated General Groove that won at Flemington on Melbourne Cup day.
General Groove also finished second in group 3 company at Sandown at his most recent start on November 15.
Neither Rodd or Team Corstens have previously contested a Wodonga Gold Cup.
“Sweet As Bro will definitely run while I’m still undecided about General Groove,” Leon said.
“Michael Rodd has been booked to ride Sweet As Bro.
“It will be the first time we have targeted a Wodonga Cup and I think I have got a horse more than capable of winning the race.
“So let’s hope it all happens.”
A total of 32 nominations were received for Wodonga’s premier race yesterday with the release of weights today to shape the final field.
Peter Moody, Mick Price, Michael Moroney alongside the in-form training partnership of David Hayes and Tom Dabernig were other high-profile Melbourne based trainers to nominate runners.
Price nominated Stratigraphy who handed the veteran trainer his first victory in the race last year.
Last start Flemington winner Saint Or Sinner was Moroney’s sole entry as he chases his third Wodonga Cup after previous wins with Syndrome (2009) and Zabisco two years ago.
Moody nominated Sneak A Peak while Spacecraft was the Hayes and Dabernig representative.
Locals are also well represented with Brian Cox leading the charge with five nominations in Bringenbrong, Full Hand, Grassini, Minnie Downs and Smoken Cash.
Cox will be shooting for his 11th hometown feature.
Brett Cavanough declared both Prince Pedro and Price Of Glory as definite starters while Sylvia Thompson was yet to decide whether Allelu would target the cup.
Peter Maher has nominated Minnesota Hussle and has previously won the race on three occasions.
