Now the book he wrote to document the amazing journey and an associated raffle has raised a further $52,000 towards supporting those with the disease.

The book recounts Phegan’s journey and also details the medical breakthroughs made as a direct result of the charity ride.
Phegan deserves thanks from this community and those further afield who have benefited from his efforts and will continue to be supported by the money he has raised.
While he made the journey to honour the memory of his grandfather Herbert Freyer who lost his life to cancer, he has since donated close to $600,000 towards cancer research and support.
That is an extraordinary effort by one person, albeit with the backing of the Border community, family, friends and supporters across the country.
It’s the kind of selfless attitude that makes us proud to claim Phegan as one of our own.
