Nationals MP and Ovens Valley candidate Tim McCurdy announced yesterday $1 million would be provided to the Edi Cutting section of the road.
It follows last week’s announcement of $2 million over two years for the installation of a roundabout at the intersection of Wangaratta-Whitfield Road and Snow Road, Oxley.
That funding, however, would be guaranteed and was not reliant on the Coalition’s re-election.
Mr McCurdy said upgrades were increasingly important as the King Valley became more popular for tourists, as well as being the main road residents used.
“At the Edi Cutting locals are aware of the need to adjust their speed, keep an eye out for wildlife and drive to the conditions,” he said.
Meanwhile, back in Benambra, sitting MP Bill Tilley visited the Dederang Primary School yesterday for the official opening of its upgraded “Reggio” room, which he said would mark “a new chapter”.
The school received a $28,000 Coalition government grant to upgrade the room, which is dedicated to long daycare and a kinder program.
