Mr Edmunds’ 10 years as president is a record in the club’s 112-year history, which makes it significant his work be acknowledged and recognised.
During his tenure, the club’s board and management have taken the decision to sponsor the Albury Gold Cup, as well as the Albury-Wodonga Bandits and the Margaret Court Cup.
But it is the club’s role in supporting not only sporting events and clubs, but also myriad community organisations that is most important.
Having donated more than $600,000 to these worthy causes, many rely upon the club’s philanthropic role to survive.
Mr Edmunds says he took on the role as president of the Commercial Club seeking to improve the club and cement its place as the No. 1 club in NSW.
While he will remain on the board, he now hands over that role to Graeme Edgar, who has previously been a club vice-president.
The Commercial Club has a large staff and it also has a large membership which understands its place in judging the organisation’s activities and services.
Mr Edmunds has worked in keeping the club on the right track.
