Lavington Public School’s year 3 and 4 students attended the launch for the 2014-15 summer challenge.
Year 4 student Aric Reimers, 10, was excited by the idea of an adventure-themed challenge.
“Adventure books are my favourite because they are really interesting and cool,” Aric said.
Harry Potter and Diary of a Wimpy Kid were favourites among the children.
Library officer April Wood said the program encouraged reading across all age groups, and the aim was to take reading “from the community to the home”.
The free Australia-wide program, introduced in 2011, is open to children from preschool to high school.
Students are encouraged to sign up for the program which runs until January 31.
