Thorne, 19, will join the Saints from Great Northern Football League club, Towns.
The lively small forward won the club’s best and fairest in its premiership season this year.
He also captained the competition’s under-18 representative side in 2012.
Myrtleford co-coach Leigh Corcoran said Thorne would add further class to the line-up.
“He’s very silky and can get through traffic,” Corcoran said.
“Willie is looking forward to the challenge of playing in country Victoria.
“He can play up forward as well as through the midfield.”
Thorne visited Myrtleford last weekend and will relocate to the North East in the coming weeks.
The Saints have had their most fruitful off-season in years with recruits Shannon Broadbent, Mitch Hough, Fraser Lucas, John Simpson, Patrick Sullivan and Izack Ralph having committed.
Meanwhile, Wodonga Raiders have snared North Albury’s Jeffro Calma-Holt.
In a boost to the club’s key position depth, the former Hopper has joined the rival Ovens and Murray club after being frustrated by a lack of senior opportunities last season.
He enjoyed a strong debut season with North Albury in 2013 after arriving from Griffith.
