Myors, 23, played more than 30 games for North Albury before spending the past two seasons with Spotswood in Melbourne’s Western Region league.
Spotswood has lost the past two deciders against Deer Park including a heartbreaking one-point loss in 2013.
He is one of those 100-metre players who gets the footy and runs 40 or 50 and kicks it another 50.
- JOSH WALKER
Bulldogs coach Josh Walker said the former Murray Bushranger would provide their midfield with another dimension.
“It’s probably fair to say we lacked a bit of pace and run and carry this year,” Walker said.
“We were probably a bit one dimensional and had a lot of similar players who were stock standard when it came to releasing the footy.
“We found we lacked the ability to break games with our run which is the way modern footy is heading.
“So we specifically targeted Sam who is one of those players who has the ability to break the lines with his hard running style.
“He is one of those 100-metre players who gets the footy and runs 40 or 50 and kicks it another 50 and so is exactly what we were after.”
Myors was a former Wodonga junior before crossing to North Albury.
“I had a fair bit to do with Sam when he was at Wodonga as a junior,” Walker said.
“Even back then you could see he was a talented player, even though he was a bit green.
“While we were disappointed to lose McDonald to Wodonga Raiders, Sam is a different type of midfielder but can hopefully prove to be just as classy as Macca.”
Walker (knee), Wade McPherson (knee), Michael Bain (broken leg) and Nathan Chamings (broken leg) are on a modified training program in the lead-up to Christmas after missing a large chunk of this year.
The Bulldogs have also recruited Border athletics coach Bernie Cannan who is overseeing their running and conditioning program.
Walker hopes to unveil more recruits to help cover the loss of McDonald, Nick Nott (Wodonga Raiders), Tom Weldon (North Albury) and Ash Murray (Murray Magpies).
