The final figure of $69,119 is a big fall from last year’s record of $98,247.
The FM station’s breakfast co-host Kev Poulton attributed the fall to a tough economy.
“It’s just a reflection of the times at the moment,” Poulton said.
“Relay for Life was in a similar position this year where they came in a bit under, so we’re not alone in that scenario.”
Money from this year’s activities, which included a radiothon, family fun day at Albury’s Oddies Creek Park and corporate golf day, will fund equipment to help young patients.
It includes a humdicrib, paediatric surgical equipment and blood monitoring gear.
Poulton and his breakfast co-host Luisa Pelizzari presented a cheque for $69,000 to Albury-Wodonga Health chief Sue O’Neill earlier this week.
TRIPLE J has announced its new drive show hosts will be Veronica and Lewis, who have hosted the station’s weekend breakfast and afternoon shows.
The pair replace veteran announcer Lindsay “The Doctor” McDougall, who announced in October he would leave triple j after a decade to channel his energy into making music.
The new hosts Veronica Milsom and Lewis Hobba met in high school and went on to write and perform sketches for ABC TV’s Hungry Beast.
From there, Veronica joined the cast of ABC TV’s sketch comedy series Shaun Micallef’s Mad As Hell, as well as hosted the ABC2 series Backseat Drivers and appeared on The Project, A League of Their Own and the most recent series of It’s A Date.
Lewis performs and writes for comedy group A Rational Fear, which is broadcast on Radio National, and has written and directed comedy for Channel 10, The Comedy Channel and the ABC, as well as appearing on Spicks & Specks, The Chaser’s Media Circus, Backseat Drivers and The Feed.
The pair have also performed live solo shows in The Melbourne and Sydney International Comedy Festivals.
