The Breakers defeated the Kings last week, but after the Kings came away from Auckland without the spoils, they made the trip down to Adelaide. The first half started much the same way that the Friday night clash finished for the Kings, but they turned it around in the second half to notch up a record 14-point come-from-behind victory, eventually winning 90-83 over the 36ers.

They are confident they can ride this momentum into the Kingdome.

Giant centre Angus Brandt said the win was good for team morale.

"To win in that fashion it was good for us," he said. "I think it was something that we needed in terms of team morale. I think it showed we've got a lot of character in our team."

American import Kendrick Perry said the Sydney side were looking to get some consistency into their game and improve on the key points.

"Our biggest thing now is to keep improving and staying consistent throughout this middle stretch of this season," Perry said. "Especially going into the last stretch of the season. Take it day by day. We've just got to keep that edge and key in on those little things day by day.

"[Coach Damian Cotter is] a really wise guy. He knows that there will be lapses, contentedness when we have a good win like Sunday. He wants to stay on us and not just be content with one win but string some together.

For Perry, that consistency starts at a personal level, with the point guard working to improve his game for the benefit of his teammates.

"I've just got to be more consistent with my game I think," he said. "I like to give a spark defensively and offensively as well. My biggest thing is to keep giving that spark that gives the guys energy."

New Zealand will not be an easy task. Coming off a five-win streak, including their last match against the Kings, they are are riding a momentous wave into the Christmas period.

Perry is all praise for them but says part of the loss last week was due to the Kings giving up unnecessary points.

"You've got to credit New Zealand, they played well," he said. "You can't really beat someone when you give them 100 points. We shot pretty well, we shot 90 or something, but when you give a team 100 points you're not gonna win many games.

"It will be tough but if we key in our principles offensively and defensively, we should be in good shape."

The Kings pride themselves on their ability to be there for each other, and working as a team is top priority if they are to win more games.

"The thing about our team is that we're so team-oriented and that's it," Perry said. "I know that I can go out and I can be subbed out and know that Jason [Cadee] won't miss a step or Madge [Ben Madgen] comes out of the game and Kevo [Kevin White] can give spark from the bench.

"Same with Daniel [Joyce], same with all the guys we've got. When you've got a team like that, that's willing to sacrifice and willing to be together, it makes things so much easier for you."

Perry also feels the Kings are bolstered by having a sixth man on the court – the fans. For him, the Kingdome should be a place of intimidation for opposition teams because of the intensity of the supporters.

"Our fan base really gives us a good amount of energy," he said. "We always say we want the Kingdome to be a place where our opponents come in and they don't want to play. I think we can get a good spark from our crowd."

The Kings are 5-5 for the season, putting them just outside the top four. Brandt says they will need to improve that record if they are to be assured of a play-off berth.

"I think our goal is to have a winning record, and we obviously want to make play-offs," Brandt said. "I think around 50 per cent is right there. We don't want to rely on being five and five this year, we can improve on it."
