Robson received his award in Melbourne on Friday from Australian cricketing great Max Walker.
The award is for Robson’s feature piece in the Pulse magazine liftout in May, which told the story of three Border-based sportspeople who have each defied their disability in pursuing their sport.
Blind skier Jessica Gallagher and her guide Christian Geiger won bronze in the visually impaired giant slalom Australian paralympic team at the Sochi Winter Games.
Wangaratta athlete Michael Fawkner is training to compete in the discus and shotput for next year’s Asia-Pacific Deaf Games.
Blind athlete Daniel Searle Daniel is looking towards triathlon Paralympic selection in January ahead of the Rio Games in 2016.
He has already represented Australia at the Twenty20 World Cup for the Blind in India in 2012.
Border Mail editor Di Thomas said Robson’s award was an acknowledgment of his skill as a journalist.
“Ben is a fine writer. His piece beautifully captured the challenges and the triumphs experienced by these three athletes,” she said.
