The Assistant Minister for Education yesterday relocated from Swift Street to new digs in Kiewa Street, next door to the Albury Club.
The Swift Street offices have been Coalition headquarters since 1971 for predecessors including then deputy prime minister Tim Fischer and Wal Fife.
Ms Ley and her Albury staff of six made the move yesterday to the offices formerly occupied by L.J. Colquhoun Dixon Commercial Real Estate.
“Swift Street holds quite a few memories for all the members of Farrer,” Ms Ley said.
“But it’s great to be able to modernise the office specifically for our needs and visiting constituents.”
The cost of the relocation will be revealed at a later date.
A lease on the previous offices had expired.
The move wasn’t without incident with a last-minute permit sought from Albury Council to enable removalists to unload furniture and other items at the front of the new offices.
