DO you fancy winning $500 just for voting for your favourite Christmas lights?
There are 45 entries in the 2014 Light up the Border Christmas lights competition, hosted by The Border Mail and FM 105.7 The River in conjunction with electrical contractors, D.N. Bishop and Co.
The addresses come from all parts of Albury, Baranduda, Barnawartha, Chiltern, Howlong, Lavington, Thurgoona and Wodonga.
Now, it's up to Border residents to tour the region’s best Christmas lights and select their favourite by sending an SMS with the registration number (listed before the full address of the entry) as well as your full name to 191 400.
Thanks to Bishops, the competition will offer a $1000 cash prize that will meet the electricity costs for the householder judged as having the Border’s most popular Christmas lights.
But there will also be a $500 lucky draw prize for someone who registers their vote on 191 400.
VOTE NOW - Text your name and the registration number of your favourite address to 191 400
So get out and about with the family this week and have a look at some, if not all, of the lights on our list.
Breakfast radio personalities with FM 105.7 The River, Luisa Pelizzari and Kevin Poulton, will continue to encourage listeners and The Border Mail readers to make it a family affair to visit the lights.
“I’ve noticed there are many more lights around this year,” Pelizzari said.
“We’re really lighting up the Border. So plan your trip, select your favourite and don’t forget to vote.
“You could win $500 just by voting.
“You’re helping yourself, but you’re also helping someone else to win $1000 for having the best lights and it’s all about the giving.”
Voting via SMS opens today and will close at midnight on Sunday, December 28.
Winners will be announced on FM 105.7 The River and in The Border Mail on Monday, January 5.
