FOR the past eight years, Lachie Cossor has been making ready his horses and wagon and giving Border residents a Christmas treat — a tour of the neighbourhood lights in Albury’s north.
Mr Cossor sets out from the North Albury football ground for a leisurely paced 40-minute tour of those houses lit up around Norris Park.
There are 10 seats on the wagon and to meet demand Mr Cossor is running two wagons, each with a team of two horses, on his evening tours.
He will drive one, while his eldest daughter Shannon, 16, will drive the other.
“There are a lot of families and a lot of work parties who take the ride,” Mr Cossor said.
“Some are booking a year in advance for the following year.”

Mr Cossor first got the idea for the rides while offering horse and carriage rides for local weddings.
“We had finished a wedding one night and my daughters jumped on for a ride to look at the Christmas lights,” he said.
“People began pulling up in their cars and asking how they could get a tour and a ride and I thought ‘that’s a great idea’.”
Mr Cossor has a stable of more than a dozen working horses with four of his horses involved in pulling the wagons for the Christmas lights tours.
“I love it. I love working with the horses and it’s a good time of the year,” he said.
“When you get up to Norris Park during the evenings, people are out in their yards there having their barbecues.
“There’s a real Christmas spirit.”
The tours are $20 a head.
