The packed Mitsubishi Fuso bus had been travelling north on the Bandiana Link when it was struck by a Holden Commodore travelling in the opposite direction about 2pm.
The impact tore away the sides of both vehicles and the Commodore came to rest on the side of the road.
About 20 Westmont Aged Care residents had been travelling on the bus for a monthly mystery tour.
Westmont chief executive Peter de Koeyer said they had been left shaken but were uninjured from the encounter
“No one was injured but they were a bit shaken,” he said.
“When you get the phone call saying there’s been a crash their safety is your biggest concern, so it’s a relief.
“It’s great they’re OK.”
Mr de Koeyer said the oldest person in the vehicle had been aged in their early 90s.
The road was temporarily closed to traffic after the crash and a large tow truck with a tilt tray was required to tow the bus from the scene.
The residents were transported back to the Baranduda centre in another bus after the crash.
“They needed to wind down, have a cup of tea and collect their thoughts,” Mr de Koeyer said.
