Peake, 34, of Baranduda, had first appeared in court before magistrate John Murphy on December 12 after being arrested by Wodonga detectives.

His application for bail before magistrate Ian Watkins was rejected yesterday and charges against him were adjourned until February 9.

Peake has been charged with three counts of trafficking ice, trafficking cannabis, aid and abet the trafficking of ice, two counts of possessing it and being a prohibited person possessing a firearm.

He faces further charges of reckless conduct endangering life, reckless conduct endangering serious injury, dangerous driving while pursued by police, driving at a dangerous speed, dangerous driving and failing to stop on request.

Peake was targeted by police in an operation code-named Grug after being a passenger in a car stopped by officers in Warby Street, Wangaratta, on May 21.

The officers found 23 grams of ice in the vehicle and police allege Peake has been trafficking in the Wodonga and Wangaratta region since May 12.

There was a further allegation about trafficking cannabis in the Albury-Wodonga region during the past 12 months.

Mr Watkins was told Peake sourced and used unregistered firearms which were located during a search in June at a Chiltern property.

Peake was allegedly involved in a cross-border pursuit which began in Albury on July 21.

The vehicle hit an object on the road and a tyre blew, but he continued along the freeway into Victoria.

He took the exit off the freeway at High Street, Wodonga, and crossed to the wrong side of the road.

After a chase through the city police ceased the pursuit and it was later located in London Road and officers found about eight grams of ice inside it.

Peake’s bail application was opposed by police.

He was due to appear in Albury Local Court last Monday on a charge of acting with intent to pervert the course of justice.

Magistrate Tony Murray adjourned the matter until today for mention.
