Trained by Gary Colvin at Wagga the seven-year-old gelding is owned and bred by the Barnhill family, who own the William Farrer Hotel at Wagga.
“If he can win, maybe they’ll shout me a beer,” Colvin said.
“He’s been very consistent this campaign. He should be in the firing line.”
Cash No Receipt, a John Kissick mount, has only managed to win one race from 16 starts but Colvin believes today is the right race to extend his record, especially after the gelding drew barrier one.
“He’ll appreciate getting back out to 1400 metres,” Colvin said.
“Last start he got back a bit further than anticipated but hit the line hard.
“John (Kissick) should be able to put him where he wants from the good alley.”
A seven-year-old by Honours List out of the Barnhill’s good producer Wamoon, Cash No Receipt is coming off a last start 1.6-length sixth to Coolamon in a 1300-metre Benchmark 50 handicap at Wagga on December 6. The gelding was placed at Berrigan and Gundagai at his first two runs this campaign and two starts back finished 3.1 lengths 12th to War Horse over 1400 metres at Albury on November 27.
“He was a horse that took a lot of time to mature and over time we’ve had a few issues with him injury wise,” Colvin said.
“He’s still got a few innings left in him and hopefully he can put one on the board on Saturday. His work has been good since Wagga and I’m happy with him.”
