THERE has been plenty of disquiet in recent weeks about the failure on the part of some fuel outlets to pass on price reductions to motorists.

Now member for Indi Cathy McGowan has said she will go into bat for regional motorists who have been paying more at the bowsers than those in metropolitan areas.
Ms McGowan is calling upon the Abbott government to investigate how fuel outlets are setting prices across Indi and encouraging motorists to report unfair pricing to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.
With the arrival of the new APCO IGA service station in West Wodonga earlier this month, there has been a fall in prices in Wodonga, now down as low as 123.3 cents a litre for unleaded petrol and 119.3 cents a litre for E10.
The price decline in Wodonga has only come with the opening of the independent outlet, in line with similar savings in Albury where other independents have delivered lower prices to customers.
Hopefully the ACCC will respond to Ms McGowan’s call for an inquiry and motorists might achieve some savings that are ongoing and reflect the real situation with the barrel price for oil.
That would be a good Christmas present for everyone.
